The solenoid only allows more or less P/S fluid to flow through the fan "motor". It's controlled by the PCM I believe. On a different type of vehicle called the Lincoln LS, but still with the hydraulic fan , it uses a CHT sensor, but I'm not sure on the Jeep. ... Login to read more.
