Mercon is a Ford spec and Dexron is a GM spec. Mercon is a semi-synthetic AFAIK. Dexron III is not a semi-synthetic AFAIK. I can't see the two being compatible. I'd need proof that Mercon V meets all Dex III specs. I wouldn't chance anything. Dex III is still... Login to read more.
