We had a 94 2.0 eclipse come in that broke the main belt while idling(I think) and never touched the valves. Still running fine 3 years later. Needless to say I was surprised. I have seen an 88 Crown-Vic strip the plastic off the timing gear and bend one valve... Login to read more.
