E-85 does smell like weak gasoline, it has a liquor smell to it and if you get it on you it drys very fast like rubbing alcohol, feels cold. Use H2O to test like the other posters, BG Products has a nice fuel test kit for checking alcohol content and fuel spec... Login to read more.
