I can't see much benefit to shutting it down for even 5 minutes. As you said, there's wear and tear on the starter, and yes, I imagine most cars would be in open loop at least momentarily after re-start. Plus it takes fuel to spin the alt to recharge the batt ... Login to read more. ![]()
