The only current sensing tach I've seen was a Smith gauge on a british car, but I don't know fore sure about an old chevy. Assuming this tach picks up from the coil -, try different resistors (500 ohm to 10k) between the tach and the coil. The HEI's "ringing" ... Login to read more.
