A non-detergent SAE 30 oil is worthless, IMO, unless you are oiling the door hinges with it.

If you are talking passenger car or light truck engines, use Citgo 600 10W30 (rated CI-4/SL) or something like it. I think Rotella comes in 10W30, but it may be hard... Login to read more.
