Hi Jim. I'd go with over-tightened without a torque wrench at some previous repair. I never encountered it on many of these jobs myself. Numerous classes of GM ASEP apprentices haven't managed to pull the threads on the class set of 3.1L V6 engines to date, so... Login to read more.
