I read somewhere that the system works by the ecm providing a referance votlage (2.5 volts?) and the knock sensor produces an ac voltage that rides on top of this voltage. so with an oscope you would see an ac signal varing around 2.5 volts. Now I'm no expert ... Login to read more.
