Hi Gil

If you referring to a wide range sensor [WRAF] or air fuel ratio sensor [AFR] this is how it works.

They operate at 1200 degrees f versus 600 degrees f traditional zirconia, also they can generate a signal from 10:1 rich to very lean mixtures.
