Hey Rusty I looked in my mitchel books and they show the same thing you have. The 3.8 looks like it has a one speed fan, i found a spot that had a footnote to this effect. It looks like the 5.0 has a two speed set-up. Normally powering up both hot wires should... Login to read more.
