Hi Ray, I have not adjusted valve clearance on this engine, but I have replaced many timing belts on Subarus. I do know that the timing belt alignment mark on the crank gear is not at #1 TDC. I looked over the adjustment procedure in Alldata and I don't get it... Login to read more.
