The idea is good, your execution of Ohm's law is a little sketchy though. 12V through .5 Ohms will draw 24 A each, not 6 A each (that would be something that has 2 Ohms resistance). 8 glow plugs @ 24 A each would draw 192 A, this will drop off... Login to read more.
