I have heard diesels have a light irregular metallic tapping (like the California cackle) due to low fuel pressure/poor spray, to a heavy knock from a broken piston skirt, bad connecting rod/wrist pin, or over fueling. It sounds like the pump is turned up more... Login to read more.
