The Ford spec via an old Mitchell for a 'K' code engine is 10 deg BTDC without vacuum advance. Move the distributor. I like to check mechanical advance without vacuum and make sure it is at around 28 deg at 2500 RPM. 32 I think is too much and 36 might well be... Login to read more.
