Stephen, We had a similar issue with a '02 that had the exact complaint about hitting a bump and getting an extreme shake that would not go away until coming to a crawl. We put on a Moog steering stabilizer/mount (SSD43/SSD40) and I've not had an issue since. ... Login to read more.
