You're right about the lack of access with a slide hammer, but you forgot to mention the specified 5/8" slide hammer also does not fit in the 1/2" hole in the tap. I use the Ford (OTC) tool, but with a pipe and bolt the draw the sleeve out like a screw puller ... Login to read more.
