John, if the 300 is an 855 or L10, there is a cover on the exhaust side just above the pan rail. You can remove the cover, bar the engine to where you can see the rod at bdc, you don't want oil closer than 1/2 - 3/4" to the bottom of the rod. Make your full ma... Login to read more.
