It's a VS549 gas engine converted to diesel in 1974. Non turbo V8 diesels of any color have never been lustrous IMHO, and the 9.0 has had it's share of troubles. Most common are headgasket failures, but rods were also known to ventilate engine blocks, probably... Login to read more.
