What if you cut the sidewalls out (like a donut) with a utility knife. The tread part is harder, but can be cut into thirds with a recriprocating saw. I saw a one man shop do this, not sure about disposal legalities, but he had about 20 tires in apx 3x3 pile. Login to read more.
