Do not know about the "newer" chips but the "older" chips would turn on the check engine lamp plus cut the milage down 5-6 [...] you can live with the light on for an .5 quicker et in the quarter mile go for it just DO NOT BRING IT TO ME FOR A "TUNE UP"!!Or as... Login to read more.
