Solepropriator or LLC for a startup mobile business?
Posted to Shop Management Forum on 1/23/2022 25 Replies

So after 20 years of working on cars as a technician, I have worked in multiple different shops from private to dealerships to chains. I feel at this point in my career I have a solid understanding of how a shop works, what it requires to be successful. I am currently writing my business plan, creating a shop management spreadsheet for creating invoices and estimates it will also be able to track important things like cash flow, taxes, profit and loss, as the available programs I have found are quite expensive upfront for a startup business especially considering I could easily have nothing to work on or very little for quite a while. I also understand I dont know everything about it. I have means of income with a flexible schedule. As well as a wife who earns a solid income, and is willing to support us.

I am hoping to get some solid advice and info. One of the big decisions is wether I should go with a LLC or Solepropriatorship.

From the information I have found on the topic so far there are positives and negatives to both. I would love to hear from other business owners out there, what they would do in my shoes knowing what they know now.
