I believe what you are speaking of is what my wife calls bench racing and the only thing you can do to stop that is set your mind to not allow yourself to get sucked into that stuff and tell your friends that you don't have time to talk when you are in the shop. as far as customers showing up and wanting you to drop whatever it is you are working on to look at their car now you need to tell them that you don't have time right now and they need to setup an appointment for when you do have time
