You may want to consider NiMH, Ni-Cd, NaNiCl, Na-S, Li-ion and Li-polymer in a few years.

Some have already replaced their OEMs with Ovonics but I think that's still premature. Panasonic and Sanyo NiMH/OEM units are fine.
