Pro or Con - Multi Purpose Transmission Fluid

Would like feed back on using Multi-Purpose Transmission Fluid, and Multi Purpose Anti-Freeze. I am a firm believer use what the manufacturor states, ie. Mercon 5, or ATF +3 new ATF +4, Mercon/Dexron and ATF F.
