I took a gamble and installed a new MAP Sensor. My reading on the old sensor was .9v at idle. The new sensor measured 1.2v at idle. I cleared Fuel Adaptive Memory. i failed to fix this car. i did install another new cam sensor since i could get a new one (borg warner) under warranty. i am not inclined to gamble on replacing cam and crank sensor with mopar parts since i receive the signal at pcm on lab scope and since pc... Thank you to every tech that replied to my post, five in all. I checked everything on the diagnostic chart twice. I replaced the pcm and had it programed by dealer and my nightmare job was fixed. I hope this post can help one of you techs out some day.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I still never recieved a clear cut explanation on the PCM strategy. I ASSUME that the shorted sensor generally takes out the 5v in the pcm causing the no run no comm and that it would still be able to energize the ASD relay. ...
