Re: Older cars: take in vs refuse

How about telling her the truth. She has a high maintenance vehicle with a low maintenance budget.

You would be better advising her to sell and get into something that is better for her circumstances.

If she is into the prestige of having a Mercedes then it is on her to understand a say 50K vehicle When new does not cheaper parts as it gets older. If she insists on rolling like a reality show star then she will always be digging to keep up with reality shows.

My granddaughter has always wanted a Mini but I explained that she would be better off with a Focus while she was in school and her fiancéé is of the same mindset. Now after she gets her BSN. If she still wants a Mini then she can afford what comes with that high maintenance vehicle.

If she goes down that Mini road then has issues she will get I told you so from me.

I have been a tool junky while wrenching and also a Harley junky since I was 18 ( I will never recoup what I have invested in both) One I invested to make a living. The other was my choice to (pi*s up a tree) and did not expect anyone other than my wife to have an issue with which for the most part she didn't.

Just saying that you would be better off laying out the facts of life as far as vehicle choice goes.
