Theoretical question. Real answer. I build tools on company time with what I have on hand or buy what I need. Should my employer compensate me or vice versa. No, I don't think so. My employer pays me a very good wage, I am compensated well enough. Should he be compensated! No. I don't think so. I make him more money with my new tool. And yes... I share it with everyone. Everybody's life should be easier at work. We spend a great deal of time there.

Spending time at home to research something. I do it all the time. Should my employer compensate me. No. I am compensated well enough with my wage. It's what drives me... To problem solve something. It brings me great pleasure to have a solution.

My employer pays me well. Good benefits package. Pays me when I'm sick or take time off for a dentist or doctor visit.

Employers finding a good technician's is difficult. Technician's finding a good employer is equally as hard!

A good day working always beats a good day fishing!
