These figures are from the from what's reported to our federal government in terms of tax returns on businesses, 941 returns on employees, and etc for each NAICS category. Obviously they don't include unreported income.

I think it's important to note that also, it DOESN'T include businesses that have a prime NAICS category other than ones starting with 81111X such as dealerships, tire stores, quick lubes, glass shops, etc. There's a lot of general auto repair going on inside of new car dealerships and tire stores, as well as some quick lubes.

Because service work figures are internal numbers in dealerships and tire stores, those numbers are impossible to get as nationwide tallies.
