Re: Joe and the Sign or Where's the Problem :)

I never said free diagnosis, only free scan. Being the only shop in a town of 3,000, where most of the residents will drive 15 minutes to the city that has way too many shops, just because of location reputation, I need all the word of mouth I can get.

I will never accept payments for repairs, and will not release the vehicle without payment, so I don't think I will have a customer paying me $25 a month.

I'm trying to figure out why so many on here are hostile to the idea of going the extra mile to keep a customer happy. I already have one customer for life, because he had been to another shop that charged him $300 to diagnose a no start when cold issue, and never performing any repairs, because they never found the problem. Their justification was that they spent time on it, and so they are owed for the time. My opinion is, if they didn't fix anything, there is no justification for charging more that a base fee. Since I opened this shop in May, I have made a significant amount of money from him, and his friends.
