Technician Drivability Worksheet
Posted to Shop Management Forum on 3/28/2013 23 Replies

Hello friends and colleagues of IATN.

I have been searching for a long long time for this. I have combed this website and have called several authorities on the subject and yet still am, basically, empty handed.

I would like to find a drivability worksheet for technicians. I have seen other posts on this, and received one for ABS diagnostics which was nice, but still haven't hit the mark I'm looking for.

I understand not all cars are the same, especially these days, but what I would like to find is a technician guide sheet. A guide sheet, almost a how to sheet for drivability work. Something that starts at the beginning of the job, before they are handed the keys to the time they bring the key back in. At the same time it would have to have a guided diagnostic process on it to keep the guys focused and shooting the same direction every time. Something that reminds them of the basics and then continues on down the path. There are times when things feel a little scatter shot, sometimes hitting the mark right away, but more times than not it feels like they're jumping in the middle and missing the easy quick things.

Everyone I've spoke to on the subject says, 'they're all over, everyone has one,' but I've been looking for a long time, and every time I ask one of those people that say, 'everyone has one,' they can't produce one either.

I think this would be helpful for a lot of folks if anyone has a good one.

Thanks, C. J. (for Steve Wegh)
