Problem was cable between Bluetooth adaptor puck and console harness. Phone audio comes through sound system speakers. Thanx Mark! I now have good used PSE and BT puck if anyone needs them.

2004 Saturn Vue Red Line 3.5L upshifts VIN: 5GZCZ63424
Disconnected the battery to replace a cable and afterwards there is a slight improvement as it upshifts 100 or 200 rpm lower. Hopefully it will get even better as the ECU relearns. Not really a fix but I'll live with it.
