I did drop the pan and no metal pieces were there just some sludge in the bottom valley of pan. The fluid was black and stunk. Customer decided to hold off repair for now. Thanks to all.

Get a load of this Kevin from Mass Hit this with the first reply. Thinking outside the box fixed this. The spark plugs - coil packs were causing enough RFI interference to invade the Can + Dataline knocking the TCM off line. - Trans would go into Limp home ...
