1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L Poor Idle Quality, Hesitation, Cuts out, backfire

Hi Jeep Experts.

This jeep is giving me a hard time, it intermittently loses power and backfires through the intake. It seems to do it most often after 2-3 miles of driving after a cold start. there are no stored trouble codes, and scan data seems to be OK.
