the viscosity of 5/30 or 5/40 is same on a MB of that vintage .i use to use TOTAL synthetic .usually a owner manual will give you a few brands .my part supplier [SSF] has the list of approved lubricant for euro cars . mobil one is also safe to use . Login to read more.
