What to do with an old r-12 POA valve system?
Posted to HVAC Forum on 6/23/2021 21 Replies

I'm not sure what to advise an old customer to do with an old Pontiac A/C. This car is a driver, not a show car, but....garage kept pretty slick old car. He has brought it in every couple of years for a long time to get the r-12 topped off, now it appears "topping off" isn't gonna work any more. What would you do with it?? Should I simply get a POA valve eliminator device and convert to R-134A? I obviously need to replace some hoses, etc. Should I change the old A-6 compressor for something more modern? He doesn't really care if it doesn't "look" right under the hood, but he doesn't want some other evaporator hanging under the dash .... any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA
