No air from face vents-So they said
Posted to HVAC Forum on 8/29/2017 28 Replies

This is basically a short, possibly humorous, case study.

We all know it's important to verify the customer complaint. And I'm sure more than a few of us are lucky to even get one, as opposed to "check AC" written on the order.

Last Wed., I actually did get a customer complaint on a 2012 F-150 4wd 5.0. The complaint was "air doesn't come out of face vents, OK to permanently "fix" air flow to face vents". This is a base model truck that is used off-road a lot by a local private water company.

Well, guess what...the complaint was not accurate. There was no air flow ANYwhere. Blower fan was definitely working, you could hear it change speeds, as commanded. You could even tell the air doors were moving when commanded.

After a few days we got approval to pull the dash and look for a blockage, I was expecting a nest of some sort.

Nope.

Yep, the evaporator is one solid brick of dried mud.
