I take it this has front and rear a/c. Front only takes 2.25 lbs. and front with rear a/c takes 3.0 lbs.

Have you considered that you might also have a rear expansion valve sticking open? The rear a/c uses a Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV). I seen many ... Login to read more.
