There is a very good reason for that. I'll tell you a story I heard way back when.

The original R-4's were 10 cubic inches, pretty quite but not a real good pumper. I don't remember if it was Delphi or Harrison but one of them bored it out to 11.5 cubic inch... Login to read more.
