Were these OEM parts? Were all the seals(gaskets) reinstalled around the evaporators?

First thing I'd do is unplug the thermistor. If the compressor is still engaged, either a relay is sticking, a short in the wiring or the clutch hub and pulley are rubbing.... Login to read more.
