Glenn, the SHARK manual SPECIFICALLY states that you can use one of the fittings (1/4 or 3/8") to attach your vacuum gauge otherwise keep it capped. The pump vacuum isolation valve is between the 1/4" and 3/8" fittings and the pump itself.
