Replacing fluid on smoke machines

I recently purchased a Kent Moore Evap tester at a GM dealership. I have the manuals and all. The smoke machine part of it, they state to replace the smoke producing fluid yearly. What's up with that? The oil goes bad or they want to sell more of it? Login to read more.
