mac mdt 10, anyone using it?
Posted to Tool & Equipment Forum on 5/23/2017 5 Replies

Hello all.

I work in a foreign service shop. We see euros and asians.

Hoping someone has some real world experience with the mac mdt 10 scan tool. I currently have an older launch diagun, ross tech vag com, and an older snap on solus as my 3 go to tools.

Majority of my work is vw audi, so the vag com is my go to tool there. The launch has been very good to me w/ the bmw and mercedes coverage, as well as the Asians i see. Subaru is lacking though w/ launch and the solus. We do see a good amount of subaru so I'd like more bi directional control there. TPMS also seems to be a sticking point on subaru. the launch has been good though w/ honda and toyota as well as kia/hyundai.

the solus is used for the oddball domestic i see and sometimes on the foreign cars if it is quicker.

My launch is an older diagun, so no longer can i update. I am seeing 14 models, so i need to update my coverage. Recent example of issue i had w/ launch is it will not let me in on an e class Benz that i need to do tranny fluid service. it is done much like vw/audi where fill based on temps. The diagun is only good up to 13 models on the mb. When i called to see if updating is an option it appears my older x431 is being phased out. Same token, i have used it now for past 6 years so it has paid for itself and then some.

I was able to borrow a neighbor shops scan tool to get the job done on the Benz, but i need to be proactive and get up to date.

So any real world use on the mdt10? I was just given it to demo so still setting it up. Would like to hear any good or bad from anyone who has it or has used it.
