You can use the IDS CLEANUP UTILITY to re-install a fresh version. Go to [...] and select Diagnostic tool support > IDS > Tech Tips > and the Cleanup utility. More likely it is Windows 8 causing your trouble. I use Vista without any major problems. Login to read more.
