There is a reason why one torx has a 1/2 inch drive, and another only has 3/8 drive. Same as a 1/4 drive, its what it was designed for. More likely if you used a torque wrench and checked the torque you over torqued it by using a 1/2 impact gun. Its like a 10... Login to read more.
