According to Mitchell, my top 3 are: gm, ford, and toyota, followed closely by chrysler, nissan and honda.

For Toyota, there is a knock off tis on amazon for $25.97 shipped, with software, that I will try.

As far as basic scanners go, My favorite so far has been the ease pc based one. It supports many computers that snapon and otc won't, including bidirectional controls on dealer installed alternative fuel control modules.

I am leaning towards getting the DS708 just so that I can do immobilizers, but with the current lawsuit, I am unsure about their future existence.
