I was told the same thing by a Ford Tech here in town. I added an 8 foot OBD2 cable to the vehicle end and a USB extension to the laptop end so now my VCM is well away from the vehicle and safe on the roll cart. The USB can't wear out (I hope) cause it's alway... Login to read more.
