Andrew your 9 pin adaptor should have a driver that came with it. Make sure the driver is installed on the pc it should work. I use a pcmcia to 9pinon on a laptop. Also a cable from radio shack, usb to 9pin that works on the desktop both needed drivers to oper... Login to read more.
