The 'quill' in a manual transmission
The part of a manual transmission the release bearing slides along is referred to as bearing retainer, guide and quill depending on the manufacture and the way a manual transmission case is manufactured. We introduce the students to all of the terms. Does anyone use one term more than another consistently when referring to this component?
