Hi, I'm new to this forum so I apologize if this ? is in the wrong area. I'm new and Teaching High School Auto for Mechanics and hoping to buy some equipment. I have 400 to spend on a scan tool or code reader. I'm not totally sure of the difference but need something simple for the students to grasp without lots of steps. Most students have their own vehicle and most are ford, chevy and dodge trucks. 90's to 02's.

Any help would be appreciated
